Air Cadets gets to fly with Royal Air Force pilots in the Tutor aircraft.

These are the RAF's primary training aircraft and Flying takes place at one of the Air Experience Flights (AEFs) at RAF Wyton or RAF Benson. The cadets are shown how the aircraft flies and given the chance to control the aeroplane, experience aerobatics or simply admire the view.

All Air Cadets get the opportunity to fly with the AEF each year. Air Cadets have been flying powered aircraft since 1957 with the introduction of DeHavilland Chipmunk aeroplanes, which were replaced by the Bulldog in 1996.

The latest replacement - Tutor - is currently being phased into AEF service, replacing the Bulldog. The Tutors are provided by a contractor, Bombardier Aerospace Defence Services, and the MoD, buys flying hours. This aircraft has proved to be very popular with both the Cadets and Pilots.

Each Cadet is given a 20 minutes per year, either at the AEF or during the Annual Summer Camp. All the AEF aircraft are flown by volunteer pilots, all of whom are current or former service pilots.
