Health & Safety

This is a new section and will be developed to assist you to ensure that all activities are as safe as possible and risk assessments have been completed for all high risk activities.

Progress to date

HQAC have two new posts, Head of Health & Safety as well as a Health & Safety Advisor. This is being extended to include 3 regional advisors.

Risk Assessments for all Adventure Training.

A standardised Policy Document has been draft and is being introduced throughout the organisation.

Some Wing Staff have been trained on Health & Safety Awareness and are developing a policy for introduction to Squadrons next year.

ACP5 - A new ACP setting out Health & Safety Policy has now been published.

Generic Risk Assessments are being draft, with distribution as they are published.

HQAC will be identify all High Risk activities, as well as a simple definition, to identify activities that need to be risk assessed.

Training for Sqn staff on undertaking Risk Assessments.

What do Squadrons need to do

Identify staff (incl Cadets aged 18 plus) who have received training in Health & Safety.
Appoint a member of staff as a Health & Safety Officer
When undertaking any activity, take some time to use common sense.
